Word has come in from everywhere that the PS3 has now been hacked. It’s taken much longer than many would’ve hopped, considering Sony has been very generous with letting users do what they want with their system. The hacker credited is none other than the original jailbreaker of the iPhone, George Hotz.
Thankfully, he’s keeping details hush for now, despite saying it isn’t really patchable, but Sony is a clever company when it comes to hardware/software, so his hush hushness is welcome. What does this mean to you people? Homebrew, Linux with full hardware use, and of course, piracy. Honestly, I was amazing that it took so long for a guy like Waninkoko to open that part of the Wii and make piracy rampage almost as well as it did for the DS. I’m giving the PS3 about 6 to 9 months before we see the same. Granted he releases the exploits soon…
