Rock Band's Drum Pedal issue

A few days ago, I noticed 1UP posted about Harmonix being sued over it’s Rock Band drum kit pedal. You can check out the link here to read the full article, but the gist is that someone is saying that Harmonix intentionally released a faulty pedal to cheat consumers, and that by releasing a new drum kit with a better pedal forced customers to have to buy a new one. Well, Harmonix has responded to this, hit the jump to check it out, and my personal opinion.

“Harmonix and MTV Games are dedicated to consumers having an outstanding experience with our products. When used as directed, our drum pedals are designed to provide years of enjoyment. In addition, at the launch of Rock Band we offered consumers an extended opportunity return defective or broken hardware for any reason whatsoever — no questions asked. This litigation is opportunistic and baseless.”

That also comes from 1UP, and I can totally agree with them. Harmonix, so far, has seemed to place more concern with it’s fans than most other gaming companies. They didn’t have to extend their waranty to anyone, but they did to everyone! They didn’t have to release track packs for the Wii and PS2 so they could enjoy some DLC content, still they realized people wanted it. They didn’t have to extend that to all the systems for the second track pack, but they knew there were people out there who didn’t have internet access. Harmonix really is doing a great job, and I really hope this gets thrown out of court. Fivolous lawsuits are a bain to the justice system. At least until I can get rich from one…
